Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Facilities Manager to join our Sheppard office who will be responsible for overseeing all building-related activities, managing and resolving day-to-day facilities issues along with internal firm event management at our 50+ office locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for also managing the Office / Facilities Coordinator, who will provide support to the Facilities Manager for all of the above.

 

Responsibilities  

  • Directing, organizing and overseeing a variety of facilities projects, such as the opening and closing of offices, negotiating leases and planning for future space requirements

  • Liaising with all appropriate professionals while completing various facilities projects

  • Coordinating moves and reconfiguration of furniture layout and design as required

  • Dealing with escalated issued from the Office / Facilities Coordinator, regarding building maintenance

  • Sourcing out suppliers and obtaining price quotes and delivery information

  • Working closely with all trades, building maintenance, external contractors or consultants, and other personnel as required

  • Managing all internal events (Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative- Kids Help Phone, Farber Fun Day and Year End Dinner), providing guidance to the Office / Facilities Coordinator to support these initiatives

  • Liaising with stakeholders to build consensus on dates, venues, etc.

  • Negotiating vendor contracts for event related items

  • Participating as an active member on our Social Entertainment Committee

  • Managing internal communications

 

Education 

  • University Degree or College Diploma

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Previous experience working in the Facilities/Property Management role (5 to 10 years), dealing with office leases would be an asset

  • A good understanding of applicable provincial legislations in relation to satellite offices, such as AODA and building code compliance

  • Detail oriented, well organized and possessing an above average ability in prioritizing and multi-tasking

  • Ability to work independently and effectively as an individual contributor or team participant

  • Ability to leverage organizational skills, problem solving, and creative thinking to manage day-to-day facilities issues, the acquisition of new locations and the resolution of escalated issues

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills

  • Must have a car and a valid driver’s license and willing to travel to all of our satellite offices as required
