Position Summary

We are looking for a Learning and Development Specialist to join our Firm. The successful candidate will be passionate, innovative and will think outside the box and will challenge the current environment. You will develop and manage multiple objectives relating to organization effectiveness, often simultaneously; with the primary mandate and the ability to prioritize accordingly to drive high performance across the organization. You will be an integral member of the HR team supporting the Director to achieve business unit and department objectives successfully in the areas of learning and development, change management and performance management. You will demonstrate a strong capability to develop, implement and deliver innovative, high-impact learning strategies to support an organization during a large-scale digital transformation project. This position will initially be a 6-month contract reporting to the Director of Human Resources. At the end of the contract, there is a strong possibility that the candidate will move into a full-time position with the Firm.

Major Responsibilities

  • You will be expected to provide hands on training to staff during the digital transformation project
  • Design in-house solutions that include a blended approach to learning (coaching, classroom training, one-on-one sessions and e-learning)
  • Providing expertise and thought leadership on learning and development, change management, performance management, career development, employee experience and engagement
  • Continue to foster and evolve our new approach to performance management
  • Proactively partner with the HR Director to educate business leaders on talent management tools, methodology, resources, and processes
  • Support employee engagement initiatives including the employee engagement survey, recognition programs and company perks programs and any necessary action to be taken because of regular, ongoing employee feedback that is provided from various sources
  • Working with the HR Director, build initiatives to ensure achievement of organizational objectives with an ultimate focus on building future leadership talent (attract, grow, retain)
  • Work with the senior management team on succession planning for both our consumer and corporate practices
  • Facilitate an engaging onboarding experience that is continually evolving to ensure that we can speed up the time it takes for new employees to be fully productive in their role
  • Assess significant skill gaps in employee population impeding organizational outcomes; execute related training and development strategies to address high priority needs

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to effectively network and partner with stakeholders to become a trusted advisor
  • Trustworthy and able to ensure and preserve confidentiality
  • Experience using HRIS systems and CRM systems is a Must Have
  • Ability to consult, advise and influence at all levels of the organization and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with senior leaders & colleagues
  • Strong command of the English Language – both written and verbal
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong MS Office knowledge, especially PowerPoint, CRM Dynamics and SharePoint
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proficient in the use of technology to facilitate learning
  • Excellent project planning and execution ability
  • Excellent time management skills

Education and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary College or University education in Human Resources
  • Preferred Designation as a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), and one of the following: Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) or Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP)
  • Organizational Change Management (OCM) Certificate would be an asset
  • Experience: minimum 6-8 years of experience in Learning and Development
